You might be thinking about the range going down in the cold due to the heater, but that’s only because an EV doesnt generate enough waste heat like ICE, which is primarily a heater that produces motion as a minor side effect.2. What water damage? This seems like something that would equally affect both kinds. |

You have to get off the highway and find a local gas station (or a Sheets) hopefully with a charging station w/o any lines.Thats where the crap shoot element comes in. In most of those remote gas stations, there is no charging stations available. Enter charging distance anxiety. Going to LI from Pittsburgh, one tank will get me to the Del water gap welcome station. Top off the tank, take a leak & I'm on the road again in about 10-15 minutes tops. Next stop, Mineola. |

Posted by Spider-Pig on Wed Jan 17 12:46:33 2024, in response to Re: Hertz Withdraws its EVs, posted by Fisk Ave Jim on Wed Jan 17 12:37:35 2024. Why would a gas station have or need an EV charger? Most of these are by shopping centers. But they are the same distance from the highway exit as a gas station. Why would it be a “crap shoot?” Unlike a gas station, GPS tells you where to stop for charging, the power level, and the availability/wait time. So just opened the Tesla app and scrolled along I-80 to PA and found the first one in Bloomsburg PA at 11 Ricky Avenue which is in the parking lot of some restaurant. 150 kW (admittedly not the best possible), 36¢/kwh and 6 of 8 slots available. And if I set a destination the GPS would automatically add the pit stops. There is no guess work involved. NOTE: nearly all of the horror stories that you read about EV charging are for cars other than Tesla. |
