I am not a billionaire. QED the tax cuts were not for billionaires only. The people paying more tax now are people with enough property or taxable income to not only breach the $10,000 cap (which even a $150,000/yr job taxed at NY's 6.65% for that bracket squeaks under) but also are in position to not benefit from the higher standard deduction. Since most NY-ers rent and are not making $150,000/yr, I'd say the rich and upper middle class are the ones paying more. That is why Cuomo is desperate to try to reverse it; the tax cut inspires the most affluent NY-ers to move to areas with lower income and property taxes, which is hurting the bottom line. |

If you double the number of Clinton voters in 2016 in North Dakota, and give Trump only 10% more voters in NY, he still gains more votes were the electoral college eliminated.True, but you're ignoring states like Georgia and Texas. Also, Democrats stayed home in NY and CA too, or else voted Green because they knew it was safe. |

For those people who still think the Electoral College prevents New York and Los Angeles from winning every election:Still, you might argue, the Electoral College keeps large states from dominating small ones. If there were no such system, campaigns could win by focusing all their attention on the largest states. As a matter of math, that is unlikely. In 2016, New York, California, Texas and Florida cast about 35 million ballots, roughly a quarter of the total 137 million. Even if you somehow won every single one of those ballots, you’d still have to campaign elsewhere for tens of millions more votes, assuming a 50 percent threshold. Take the total of 2016 presidential votes in the 10 largest states, and you’d get only 71 million ballots, or about 52 percent of the vote. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/21/opinion/electoral-college-warren-trump.html |
