Although they cannot know precisely what their son was thinking as he sacrificed his life to save additional casualties, I am sure that topic probably came up in conversation at some point when he discussed wanting to join the military. If I were a parent whose child wanted to enter the military that is a question I would ask of him/her.

Trump's disgusting smears against him notwithstanding, I don't think Khan needed any help with his speech. In fact, he delivered his remarks without the TelePrompTer, or any handwritten notes. I was highly impressed. Trump is the strongest argument against Karma I have ever seen in my life. He sinks to new lows every week, is clearly a four-star asshole, treats everyone else as though their sole purpose on Earth is to serve him, and destroys anyone who dares to stand up to him. Yes, he has, to date, suffered no real consequence for amy of the countless acts of cruelty, unmitigated greed, and malice he has actually carried out against others. I've said it before...Karma is a concept created by human beings, to try to impose a semblance of fair play in an absurdly unfair world. I mean, really...anyone other than Trump would have paid dearly, long ago, for the things he repeatedly gets away with.

And I don't think I'm alone. People are getting fed up with the entire process. Bill deBlasio got elected when more than 75% of the registered electorate sat at home. When there are no good choices, people will stay home.
