Presumably that the late, honorable Justice Scalia was a Supreme Court justice, not Schrödinger's cat.Incidentally, it may be premature to say he is dead everywhere based on the limited observations available on this site. The most we can say is that the quantum superposition wave function of the late, honorable Mr. Scalia has collapsed in New Jersey as well as California and Texas. It seems likely the wave function has also collapsed in New York, Pennsylvania, and Florida. But beyond that we cannot be sure. |

Schrödinger's cat was always very disturbing in its implications to me. But then, as Niels Bohr said, "anyone who is not extremely shocked by quantum physics, has not yet understood it"...Presumably, Scalia could then be alive in Paris, bit we can't really know this, until someone observes it! |

"Nobody's life depended on Zerocare."You can go fuck yourself. A good friend of mine could not afford health insurance. She finally got an Obamacare policy. The next day, she went for an exam about a persistent stomach pain. It was diagnosed as pancreatic cancer -- one of the most deadly cancers there is. This was 2 years ago. She had a tremendously invasive operation, followed by months of chemo and radiation. Today, she is still alive and doing well. Had she not been able to get Obamacare, the cancer would have spread farther, and she would probably have died. So go to hell. |

R2 seems to have forgotten the two inevitable rules of life:1) You WILL get old. 2) You WILL get sick. At some point, if he actually lives long enough, he will be old AND sick. Woe betide him then, if the policies he supports, are enforced against him. I've watched friends die because they were uninsured and therefore refused treatment for a small ailment, which became large and killed them. Conservatives are just fine with that. If R2 had his way, he might find himself dying for want of treatment, which has been deemed too expensive to waste on his financially unworthy carcass. |

Presumably some doctor was willing to specify a cause of death (more specific than "natural causes") without doing an autopsy.Given that, an autopsy only happens if someone insists on it. That could be the medical examiner, the family, or the police. So it's not so much a matter of an autopsy being refused as there not being anyone who asked for it. A colleague of mine died in a boating accident a few years ago and the family didn't want an autopsy. They were successful in there not being one. I assume they were able to convince the medical examiner that the cause of death was obvious without an autopsy, and therefore an autopsy would not provide any necessary information. |
