Well ... now that she's let the cat out of the bag (I've been silent on this here for three years now), as Paul Harvey would say, here's the REST of the story. Stage 4 is "terminal." It means it's metastasized and spread, go home and make your peace. It's a death sentence. It could have been caught early, but because she had a pre-existing condition (thyroid) the fine folks at United Hellcare refused to cover treatment even though we were paying out the ass for insurance. Not only did they cancel her for it, but they were kind enough to tell all of the OTHER insurance companies not to cover her either. It wasn't until OBAMACARE that denial of coverage for "pre-existing conditions" was no longer a barrier to getting insurance at all. And even after that, insurance companies HAD to accept you, but they could charge whatever they wanted for the coverage. Once the cancer was detected, the rates were set to astronomical amounts that just couldn't be covered. So even WITH ACA, it was still a death sentence. God bless APPLE. That's who I work for. APPLE was willing to pay in excess of %600,000 to pay for all the treatments and cure of Stage 4 cancer out of their pocket because I work there. They paid nearly the entire freight aside from the same deductables other employees pay and those mounted up too. Bottom line, anyone who has an issue with her focus on this issue can stick it where the sun don't shine. If it weren't for ACA and damn you republicans, she'd be dead. So there you are, that's why she is the way she is about this issue. The republican way TRULY IS ... And oh yeah ... fuck you, Olog. |

Apple is pretty sensitive to the death of Steve Jobs after all these years. I'm rather lucky that in my capacity with Apple, I remind some of the executives of Steve given what I've contributed. They took a special interest in bingbong's situation as well as mine. I cannot thank Tim Cook enough for the support, for the help, and for the encouragement that got both of us through over a year of all this. Bingbong got the very best of care, and were it not for Apple, she would not have made it. She's still recovering and mending, but she's doing quite well now.And for the shithead worried about her weight, claiming her to be a "fat pig", let's see how well YOU do at 90 pounds. My thought on this is I'm glad he was off the court. He was an extreme, almost robotic, strict constructionist of the constitution to a fanatical extent. He did state he often does not like the practical outcome of his decisions.Healthcare was for shit in 1789. When you got very sick, they drained your blood out to get rod of it. That killed George Washington doing that. Unfortunately, Scalia was stuck in 1789 and so had no use for ACA because there was no concept proper healthcare then. When he says stuff like the 14th amendment does not apply to women (54% of the population), he is way over the top and content to be as sexist a pig as men were in 1789. |

A provision of Obamacare was "Public Option", which is basically what Sanders wants - simply expand enrollment into an established Medicare system. I know of no one over 65 who would give it up.Unfortunately, all the far Right could say is "Canada"/ "Socialism" and that was the end of that. Of course Medicare, the V.A., and Interstate highways are socialistic too, but they all use that and love it. Do remember, Chicagomotorman, the written legislative history of Obamacare started with DOLEcare, NOT Hillarycare, which became Romeneycare, then Obamacare. And it was none other than the Heritage Foundations in the 1980's who demanded mandatory enrollment to prevent freeloading into emergency rooms, which all our premiums pay for, like paying for uninsured motorists on our auto policies, and they were absolutely right. The GOP has no alternative to Obamacare, just unworkable slogans, because Obamacare IS a historically a Republican program, which everyone one of them has disowned with no alternative that it actuarially certifiable. Insurance companies won't touch it unless it is since they have to make a profit. |

His view of the role of American jurisprudence was alarming, even frightening, in that he didn't see the Constitution as a living, evolving document. Setting your watch back 200 years, does not help the people, nor does it fulfill the intent of the Framers, who in their Preamble sought to "establish a more perfect Union for themselves and their posterity/They clearly had future generations, living in a very different reality from their own, in mind, and made room in their prose for things they couldn't possibly imagine. Scalia had an encyclopedic knowledge of the Constitution, but in his application of its words, he was deliberately myopic, and exclusionary, IMO. |
