So then don't try to sell that texass schools are superior when all evidence proves otherwise. My hope is Ms Davis becomes governor, that place needs a plethora of reform, schools among the top priorities. They also need to stop poaching jobs and create an environment that creates their own....which is something much of the culture there would not permit. Close minded conformists do not embrace innovative thinkers. You see, you got an education in NY. That's not something that happens well enough in the public school system there. |

No Ivies, or even near-iviss.Most middle class white aprents send their kids to private schools, been their way of getting around integration since, well, integration. Which s why there's no demand amng the "taxpayera" to spend for public educaton, it's just poor (nonhomeowners) and minority kids attending. Same thng happens all over the aouth. |

Free education in public schools has been the American way since , well, America was colonized by Europeans. Ensuring every child gets educated was one of the reasons they set up here. Wasn't that way in the old country. |

Here's a link to a study on the subject of racial composition of public and private elementary and secondary schools. The reluctance to fund public schools by those who send their children to private schools is well known. The segregation crisis was enveloping Boston while I was attending college there. Jonathon Kozol documented the sorry state of the schools there. He noted that Boston's per student expenditure was for predominantly black schools. He also noted that schools in neighborhoods with private parochial schools were not far behind. You don't need to look at the past or far away to verify this phenomenon. Look at today's East Ramapo School District, here in NY State. |

Increased funding will reduce class sizes and allow schools to reinstate extra-curricular programs that get cut when budgets are tightened. |
