Carleton Ave isn't bad there at all, and as mentioned, it's right off the Southern State. It's not at all what one would think of as Central Islip. The shopping center is not bad at all. As mentioned, I have been to both the Carrabbas and the TGI Fridays next door. I haven't been in that Target, but most Targets aren't that bad. Now if that was a WalMart, I am sure it would be crappy.

I remember the first time I went to Central Islip Carrabbas about 4 years ago. I was expecting it to be in a shopping center with a 24/hr laundromat, immigration and criminal attorneys, and a Mercado Latino with yellow and orange lights.

Nope.

You're right, that part of Central Islip is nice. SSP is just quicker.

Hello streetcarman1, glad to see you got your internet privileges back.

I think anyone has a right to be concerned about crime. I just posted a story about a shooting at a house party in Central Islip and N. Amityville. Avoiding crime is not racism.

Thanks for attacking.

I don't like frozen vegetables

Frozen veggies are healthier. They are picked at ripe and maintain their nutrients better than natural veggies which age much faster.

Same with frozen fruit. Frozen peaches have something like 12x more vitamin C than natural. Peaches are in season now so they're great off the shelf. But I like to let frozen fruits defrost in plain yogurt for flavor and nutrients.

Yup. Defrost in yogurt overnight or during the day for snack after workout.

The cell walls of the fruit break when defrosted and yogurt absorbs nutrients.

I know what the deal is on Long Island....I was born and raised there....I know what type of people moved there from NYC.....and why they did it.......we know the game of FEAR all to well. As for the crime scene, look who is in control of the Suffolk County PD. If they had any sense, they could apply for federal $$$ and install CCTV like they do in NYC. "as I don't like stale bread, and it gets stale quicker than we finish a loaf"

Any stale bread left over in my house was made into a delicious bread pudding. My Mom, as a child of the depression, had great recipies for bread & rice puddings. Nothing went to waste. Combine creativity, cinnamon, raisins, eggs & that delicious 70 proof Ehilers vanilla extract (just a capfull) which was the "Icing on the cake" sorta speak!

All stuff that this generation will miss out on. Where would they be w/o the microwave??

I don't waste my time on the Internet like most people do.....since I am not "most people." I have a life outside of OTchat.
