Air Liners never flew with the cockpit doors open. The hijackers had a box cutter to the throat of one of the stewardess' to gain entry. So now, what else do you do?How many flights per day are there leaving US Airports? How many international flights arrive in the US every day? How many commercial US airports are there? The idea that Bush should have been able to defend against such an attack is as ridiculous as Bill Clinton should have anticipated the first World Trade Center attack based on Oklahoma City. Now, perhaps if the CIA and FBI were allowed to share intelligence on terrorists, more details may have made the attack somewhat more preventable but Jamie Goerlick made that impossible. |

Osama Bin Laden was identified by name as the mastermind behind the plot.Several 9/11 hijackers took flying lessons, and when it became clear that these individuals weren't interested in learning how to land a plane, their instructors became sufficiently suspicious, that they put their concerns in writing. The FBI was also apprised of this, and of Zacarias Moussoui's (the "20th hijacker") activities (he was investigated by the Minneapolis field office), but all that went by the boards. The signs were there. |

Perhaps he was dropped from the plan when they realized that he was being watched. What would you have done? Arrest him? Water Board him to find out why someone who was in this country legally was legally taking flying lessons?
