Now, back to politics.

I do want birth control to be cheap and available. All public schools should provide birth control. I don't think any Christian institution should be forced to provide it. People should avoid such institutions.

You're completely and totally wrong. You are so wrong your wrongness conumes the universe.

The most important thing about America has been ( excluding the past 30ish years), its devotion to *expanding* rights. That could never include taking away from anyone, as that too is a loss of rights. Focus on expanding oppotunities for all ( part of the magic of the 90s), a positive REAListic American approach.

Depends upon the circumstances. For example, take a teacher at a religious school. Is he/she a lay teacher or a called teacher? By called I don't mean a fully ordained man/woman of the cloth but a teacher who received some religious training as a requirement for the job.

If a true lay teacher, then the institution is bound by civil law. But if a called teacher, it may not be. See Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church and School v. EEOC, wherein SCOTUS held the Establishment and Free Exercise Clauses of the First Amendment bars suits brought on behalf of ministers against their churches, claiming termination in violation of employment discrimination laws. SCOTUS reversed the Sixth Circuit and dismissed the employment discrimination suit against the teacher's religious employer. In Hosanna-Tabor the "minister" was a called teacher, not a true ordained minister.

Since I did Catholic school, be happy to clarify. :)

Religious education was given by the priests and the nuns. You could spot them because they wore a "uniform." They also hired what were called "lay teachers" that had your standard NYS Teaching certifications and they wore "plain clothes." They did NOT teach religion at all. Therefore, pretty easy to separate the group as to who gets coverage and who can "conscientious object" ...

No ambiguity there.

If relgious groups, which function within the so called "free market" are permitted to exclude basic healthcare to half the population, they will not be served and the "free market" will provide no solution.

Use of contraceptives is a personal action that does not extend to others beyond one particular relationship. It is based upon one's personal beliefs WRT their sexual behavior, and hopefully, a good dollop of common sense regarding the chances of the couple functioning as responsible parents and safety WRT preventing disease.

If a religion's teachings don't provide a compelling enough message regarding contraceptive use, then those who develop their message ned to rethink and rework it. Imposing such, as allowing bans, is unworkable as a matter of faith, what about free will? It is transparent oppression.

We started dating 40 years ago this coming March...I borrowed 25 cents to help pay for dinner on our first date and pocketed the change. She tells people I still owe her 25 cents; I tell them if I paid her back, she'd divorce me so I won't!

How do you know that your wife/husband/significant other is THE one? When the thought of living without them turns your bowels to water.
