It covers moderate drinking and the driving allowed is low speeds. No setting sail for Lake Plastered :P

On paper it's kinda reasonable. Cops here used to make a judgement call about letting you drive home if you weren't too fubar. Now of course it's zero tolerance so that's changed.

your pal,
Fred

Wankers. They shut down the railroad to Kenmare back on 12/31/1959; Kilgarvan was one of the stations.

Isn't drinking and driving still permitted in Mississippi? It used to be that you could drink and drive as long as you didn't exceed the legal limit. Not sure if that's changed.

If you don't exceed a limit, it's not drunk driving. This town is actually allowing driving over a set limit.

I spent a Saturday night in Squamish, BC about a decade ago. The town is on a pensinsula with one exit to the high speed Vancouver-Whistler Highway.

I tried leaving very early Sunday morning to go for a hike. There was a road block at the exit and the cops wouldn't let me get onto the highway until they'd convinced themselves I hadn't been drinking.

Their policy seemed to be: sure you can drink and drive low speed around town. But we're not going to let you go out where you could actually kill someone.

Problem is, who judges who can and cannot kill anyone? How do you enforce a low speed limit? Follow the guy home?

I know, this was a unique case. The cops in Squamish could enforce a low speed limit because they had the ability to keep people on low speed city streets. That doesn't work in most towns.

You can already drive with a measurable BAC above zero as long as its not over the limit. Sounds like they just raised the limit.
