What town do you live in?My friends moved to towns like Brentwood, Bay Shore, Lindenhurst, and West Babylon. They moved in the late 70's or early 80's and were already priced out of nice Nassau towns. The friends who moved to Brentwood are close to the LIE exit, not the LIRR station, so it's very nice. I've been there abotu 12 times in the last year. Been there on most of my NYC visits. I always comment how nice the homes are and quiet it seems, and am surprised that this is the same town that needs a community watch group(B.R.A.V.E) and gun shot detectors in the streets. The same town that has had many stabbings and shootings, metal detectors at the local high school, and is well-known for gang activity. Just look at the Brentwood Thread. It's all there. Bay Shore is nice south of the Sunrise. I was there last week. In 1983 my friends moved from Humboldt St in Greenpoint to Bay Shore. I just remember driving out there to visit and we went down a long street with apartment buildings where everyone would just stand outside all day staring down passing cars. Hated passing that apartment building complex. I wish I could have been part of this photo opportunity. We could have gone to Carrabbas in Central Islip after the "shooting". |
