Galileo was partially responsible for his own fate. The church basically begged him to stop undermining them, that he was right and that they were laying the groundwork for a revision of Biblical dogma relating to Aristotle. If Galileo had been less of a radical, maybe the Church would have not banned Copernicus and Galileo until 1822.Galileo acted, in many ways, like a modern atheist. At least as arrogant. |
