Neighborhood style school systems will lead to segregated schools if the parents self-segregate. But even in school systems with busing, parents have found a way to avoid sending their kids to minority schools. Like starting a new school district.What's weird in LA is that even the white neighborhoods have schools that are majority minority. But it's closer to 50% instead of 99%. I think that Carson is maybe 15-20% white, but the high school is only 1% white. |
