I think that on a nationwide basis, not just NY, the suburbs are being overwhelmed by demographic changes and far higher crime rates than anyone ever imagined as a result of the changes.But all the areas you always mention (Wyandanch, Central Islip, Brentwood, Hempstead, Roosevelt, and so forth) have been horrible areas for 30+ years, many 40+ years. That is the point, they aren't "getting" like that, they HAVE been like that for decades. In many cases they are even better than they were in the 80's (all of them in fact)...but of course, that follows national drops in crime too. |
