Harvard did confirm that Obama graduated magna cum laude. That's going beyond verifying that he graduated from there. Why would they do that? Using your logic, it's almost the same as releasing his grades.Absolutely not. Once again, it's printed on the diploma, so it's not the kind of thing that's confidential. It's bizarre that you consider his entire transcript, with every single one of his courses and the grade earned to be equivalent. Besides, Trump's claim is that Obama is an affirmative action admission to Harvard. And I didn't respond to this claim. He bases it on Obama's own words in "Dreams" where he talks about being a slacker in school and messing with pot and cocaine Some people can "slack off" and still get good grades. Others work hard and get poor grades. People who are Harvard material generally are in the former group. and the fact that a prominent civil rights attorney and activist said he was involved in getting Obama into Harvard. "Getting Obama into Harvard" probably means writing a letter of recommendation. Those are generally useless. There's also the fact that this is some guy whom people haven't heard of for 30 years, so he's probably trying to latch on to a currently successful person. Then there's the invisible hand of the market. If Harvard Law School admitted and graduated unqualified candidates, employers would steer clear of hiring their graduates, which would cause potential applicants to choose other schools, further lowering their prestige and their ranking and hurting the school overall. Much more than bringing in token minorities would improve it. Once again capitalism solves the problem. This also applies to undergraduate schools, but to be fair, less so as they have a much larger number of students so they can fudge things more. I have read that Obama become more conscientious at Columbia. |
