It's weird that I grew partly up in NJ, yet never went to LI until I was 30 years old. We did have relatives on LI, but that might have been Queens. I can't say for sure, but it was by JFK. That was the closest I ever made it. Then when I visited as an adult it wasn't what I was expecting. Now it could be that I only ever saw a fraction of LI, but what I saw on 3 different week long trips wasn't impressive. |
