Since it was the summer season when I took the trip, automatics were in short supply, and from what the agent at Sixt told me, this was the last auto they had left. I usually tend to hold off on making reservations for a car rental on a trip until the last moment in case of poor weather, but due to my laptop failing on the trip, I wasn't able to give myself the lee-way that I needed to get a better car. The original plan was to drive from Berlin to Hannover on the A2, but I wasn't able to secure anything for that stretch, so I ended up driving aimlessly on a loop from Frankfurt Airport via the A3, A45, A5, and A3. So, while I saw more of Berlin, I ended up minimizing my time in Hannover, skipping out on Hannover, but I rode the Neubaustrecke Köln-Rhein/Main during daylight. Admittedly, I loved driving on the lightly traveled A45 in the hills of Hesse so it may have been well worth it.

Next time, I'd probably try and rent a Mercedes Benz C class, and do so ahead of time. Mind you, I hope to have more money saved up as the one day rental nearly cost me $300 if one includes the cost of gas and fees...
