I like those cars form about '63 on.My brother had a 1963 Dodge Polara, white with red trim and interior. It was the very first car I learned to drive on when I got my learners permit. My dad taught me and my brother to drive by taking us to Brooklyn Terminal Market on a Sunday. It was deserted and since there was no traffic, it was great for learning to drive. The Polara with pushbutton transmission was very powerful. Too much foot on the pedal and it took off like a rocket. I wasn't used to it. heh My brother eventually drove the car cross country to California, even raced it on a race track, though it was purely stock. The car strayed out west for some reason and never returned to Brooklyn. Sadly no photos exist of the machine. Bill Newkirk |
