It's a supercritical wing with a raked wingtip. The supercritical wing creates less drag at low transonic speeds, where airliner's spend most of their time in the air. The raked wingtip reduces wake vortices, improving lift and reducing parasitic drag. If you have a problem with either improvement then I suggest you lobby hard for high speed rail, because the next generation of airliners, provided we don't go for Blended Wing Body designs for super-jumbo airliners, will almost exclusively use supercritical wings with raked wingtips.
