Yes, my girlfriend lives on the Upper West Side, and that is most definitely true. She moved there from Center Moriches a few years back because she couldn't take the SCA types on the LIRR from Ronkonkoma anymore. It's made things a bit difficult of course, as there is no way I am moving to Manhattan, and for now, her job keeps here there, but it's been working out so far.It's my observation that the SCA percentage on Ronkonkoma trains is down significantly from what it used to be. Today you see more casually dressed men and a lot more women. It's probably due to the fact that men account for 80% of job losses in the current recession, and SCA-employing industries like finance and BIGLAW have been especially hard-hit. My LIRR/NYCT blog |
