It's less "ethnic/racial" in the neighborhood I live in now than when I moved here. It's less black, more white. Never was much of a Hispanic presence here now or then, but I would guess there are slightly more hispanics now than when I moved here. But not on my particular block.One of the notoriously worst neighborhoods in Suffolk County is just across the railroad tracks, a classic right and wrong side of the tracks community, and has been for 40-50 years. It too is way better than it was 15 years ago, but it's still not nice. It went to hell there in the 60's, totally crumbled by the 80's, and has slowly (very slowly) been recovering since then (but it is still a high crime area compared to other parts). |
