I don't see a problem with working class towns like let's say "Deer Park" getting bad. They are strong communities, stable middle class working people. As for the behavior you are talking about, I think you may see some of that in Mastic or Shirley. They are solid communities, certainly not "ghetto", but they are lower middle class or upper low class. Picture a neighborhood like Roseanne's "Landford"....that's the sort of place Shirley, or more so Mastic is. You probably would see the behavior you are describing there....but then again, you would have 20 years ago too, so it hasn't gotten worse by any means....in fact, it's probably better than it was back then. |
