Steinbrenner was banned for a period in the mid 70s. When he returned in early 1976 he was appalled at the long hair the guys had worn during 1975 and that photos of this hairy display were in the ‘76 yearbook. Munson famously grew a beard in protest over some nonsense which probably put this so called ban in effect. St least the Yankees allowed mustaches and sideburns Cincinnati didn’t allow anything for ages.Gossage went around the no mustache below the lip and Mattingly had a mustache and goatee which caused a stir. Along with his mullet. |
