I seem to remember that it was in the Mid 70's that this rule went into effect on orders from Emperor George. I also believe it was when the Yankees suddenly emerged from a near decade of irrelevance and started w inning some pennants and a couple of World Series. Perhaps Mr. Steinbrenner decided it might be a good look charm for his ball club and kept the ban going. Anyway I don't think banning the right to have a beard is going to effect the Yankees at all, sad to say. Nothing I would like better than to see them and that money laundering outfit out there in Southern Cal go into the deep freeze. |
