It would not have because the government had no plan to get properly fitting N95 masks into the hands of the general population in the quantities needed.A couple of problems (and not necessarily Trump's fault either): it takes time to ramp up production of N95 masks. It also sucks that very nearly all masks were being made in China. When the pandemic went public, besides the people who generously hoarded masks, the Chinese govt decided to restrict exports of masks. There was a supply of masks that the govt had, but it wasn't maintained and many had expired. |
