I remember as a kid watching on my old DuMont TV with my older brothers the likes of Arnold Skollen (sp) Happy Humphrey, Strangler Lewis, Skull Murphy and the midgets just to name a few. It was as funny as it was entertaining, especially when it was chair time when they went out of the ring to get those wooden chairs & smash each other with them.When WWF came along, the product became more polished and orchestrated. The introduction of steroids also made for interesting body building techniques and personalities. I used to think that it was real until I realized that there was no Las Vegas line on any of the matches. That was the dealbreaker right there for me. Bottom line is that wrestling is orchestrated and choreographed entertainment thats fun to watch. Whats the saying...It is what it is. |
