I disagree. The "living Constitution" model is essential in our Republic. For example, slaves held in the Southern states were counted as "three-fifths of a whole person" for census purposes, a compromise on Congressional representation by the Northern states.

Without continuous interpretation of the Constitution as a living document, there would likely have been no meaningful way to rectify that.
