True, but intentional or not, people using VCRs for time shifting would have recorded over it a few weeks later. To [obtain], [choose to preserve], [be able to find years later], and [upload to youtube] a specific clip that might have gotten airtime for 15 seconds on one or two networks during 24 hour news coverage is asking a lot.

Also to put into perspective, there are TV commercials from that era that I've spent hours trying to find. After hunting through what amounts to 100 hours of recordings, I gave up. I don't think anyone would care enough to comb through that much footage looking for a specific clip unless they worked for some conspiracy news site.
