ERJs are awesome for that. I like 2A because there aren't seats across the aisle either, and unlike 1A there's under seat storage and the bin space isn't used by the crew.

Of course the best window/aisle seat I've ever gotten was 5A on this 777-300 flying back from Tokyo last week.

Bulkhead in front, window to immediate left, table to the right, and only one row behind me before yet another bulkhead. The most private non-first class seat possible. Only downside was a very long walk when the closest bathroom was in use and they were busy preparing food in the galley crosspath.
