Confederate monuments have nothing to do with "Southern heritage" or "ststes' rights", unless you're referring to the Confederate "States' rights" to have slaves.

These "monuments" were erected for one purpose: to remind Southern Black people living under Jim Crow, of the fact that white were in charge, by law and social custom.
