Don't go thinking you're some sort of progressive feminist because you have issue with this. Everyone should, though it's incredibly superficial. Cultural issues such as forced or arranged marriage are far more important, since that is the first issue that regards the equality of women. When a woman makes the call as to who her sexual partner is, it demonstrates her choices and desires are valid to her culture. How, when and with whom she starts a family is her fundamental human right. Take away any choice in this matter and its misogyny. |
