Yet he still signed off on the two atomic bombs used against Japan at the end of WWII. HST was certainly a very liberal President, but he understood the complexities of warfare, and statecraft. His adroit handling of the Berlin Airlift and firing of MacArthur (which kept the Korean War from expanding to Red China), underscore his strengths aa Chief Executive.Not bad at all for a haberdasher. |
