Backdoors are the result of "unexpected results." BAD code. And yeah, there are still a few that got put in there by modifying the code on places like github and the rest where credentials of the open source coders haven't been properly checked and anyone can modify it.THIS is why Linux ain't safe with "too many chefs." Oh ... you want to help maintain the code? Well here's the keys to the kingdom. Upload the changes and we'll push it out. At least with "proprietary code", the maintainers of that at least have some security guards to make sure that only EMPLOYEES can fuck with it. :) And as far as "open source" goes, Apple open sources most of the code in all they do. But who actually UNDERSTANDS the code that they're looking at, even if they can actually figure out what it means? Therein lies how governments whip in those back doors. In KNOS, I am the final reviewer and arbiter of what is IN KNOS, and I'm a mutha about really checking out each line of code in everything. |
