These questions have been answered time and time again about the ole' "shoot him in the arms/legs" angle. But, in case no one else knows, police are trained to shoot at the center mass of the target presented to them in order to stop the threat. I'll state it again..... POLICE ARE TRAINED TO SHOOT AT THE CENTER MASS OF THE TARGET PRESENTED TO THEM IN ORDER TO STOP THE THREAT. Now, is everybody CRYSTAL CLEAR on that? Do you know WHY police aren't taught to shoot outer extremities? Why kids, that's easy!! In order to prevent the higher possibility of the police missing the target, thus increasing the risk of bystanders getting hit. The object is to PRESERVE life, NOT take it. Of course, in a "real life" situation where the officer has to shoot for whatever reasons, the targets inevitably don't always hit the center mass, due to the target moving, the officer's adrenalin, fear, lighting, etc...I hope I cleared up some issues... |
