You'll end up attracting immigrants who only come to live off welfare benefits. While living on welfare tends to be unideal, to many other people in the developing world, first world welfare benefits constitute high quality living.FWIW, I saw this first hand with Haitian immigrants who went to Canada in the 1970s and 1980s. It's a bit of a sore point with Haitians in the US who feel that the Haitians in Canada are a bit of an embarrassment, especially since they're in a place with even less racism... |
