A sign saying "no gays allowed" would attract more bigots than it turns away gay people.

Perhaps in some Southern locations, but definitely not most. Most people could care less.

Plus, there's regional considerations; plenty of towns in the south have more racists than racial minorities and most businesses rely on local customers.

Yes, as I said too. That said, "racists" have nothing to do with gays. Being Gay is NOT a race. So all this talk about "racists and racist minorities is completely irrelevant to gays. Perhaps you mean bigots. And remember, people can't discriminate based on race anywhere. (Again, gays are not a race).
