Nilet is very liberal.

That depends on where you define the center.

If "centrist" is what the average American currently believes, then I'm fairly liberal.

If "centrist" is what the average American would believe if everybody had a reasonably comprehensive education in any subject germane to government policies, then I would be slightly liberal.

If "centrist" is defined by what policy results the average American prefers (ie, remove the confounding factor of people who want X but support Y in the mistaken belief that it will result in X), then I'm dead center.

If you put me in a society populated entirely by people who were educated enough to predict the results of policies as in the previous example and never voted for clearly irrational reasons (eg, ad campaign told them to, parents/religion/friends told them to, voting for policies that would do them harm just because it would do more harm to people of a different race), then I would lean slightly to the right.

But come on, I live in a country where a substantial chunk of the population believes that slavery was right and just; they're going to skew the average a bit and make any decent person look a lot more liberal than they really are.
