"Love your neighbor as yourself" is a meaningful statement. It has a subject, a predicate, and is of the imperative type."Life," "liberty," etc. are not a meaningful statements. They are terms, and terms whose definitions, like you say, need to be fleshed out. They do not lend themselves to any discernible action, by themselves. The way in which they are fleshed out will depend on something that is not merely factual having an effect. |
