Remember his little ditty when he was leaving office about the Military-industrial complex? There's reasons for his disillusionment and completely walking away once he left office. That was part of it. Like I said, Eisenhower was a good man and was quite saddened in playing with the government. He couldn't get out of htere fast enough once he had a taste of it, particularly in his second term. |
