When the Constitution was drafted and ratified the framers only knew single shot rifles and muskets as "arms." I do not think that the framers could have ever envisioned what we have today. It was not until the 1800's that revolvers first started to be affordable to more of the population. If you believe that the Constitution is unchanging and should be exactly what the framers meant then the 2nd Amendment's right to bear arms should only be limited to the types of weapons that the framers knew. Unless, of course, you believe in a living Constitution |
