Explanation of Nucular Nonsequiter |

Posted by New Brunswick Station on Mon Feb 27 20:21:01 2006, in response to The below item has nothing to do with anything, posted by New Brunswick Station on Mon Feb 27 20:13:34 2006. Someone was making a nonsense response to my nonsense statement, so I said the first thing that popped in my head: the chapters to A Canticle for Leibowitz. "Nucular" refers to the subject matter of the book: civilization gets ruined in a nucular war, and then grows back up from a base or two in Texas or Arkansaw or something (yikes!), and goes on to ruin itself again in another nucular war. The central character is essentially the Catholic adherent order of the Blessed (later Saint) Leibowitz and its participants, although the Wandering Jew shows up as a character at various points. There was a semi-sequel entitled Leibowitz and the Wild Horse Woman. |
