Does that mean that you're going to start flying planes into American skyscrapers . . . ?The government of the Emirates almost certainly is more frightened of Islamic fundamentalism than is the United States. It is essentially impossible to come up with a scenario in which the United States becomes an Islamic fundamentalist regime. As the old saying goes, Islamic fundamentalists are quite effective at bringing fellow Muslims back into the fold but are total flops when it comes to converting outsiders, whether voluntarily or by force. On the other hand, it is not at all difficult to imagine the Emirates succumbing to Taliban-style fundamentalism, most likely in Domino Effect fashion following the fall of Saudi Arabia.
