I did not hear anything to the Affect that Long Island Bus was going anywhere where are the posters of this information getting these erroneous stories from im sure the MTA would have put out an OFFICAL press release which has not been dont as of yetand further more someone saying that the Fleet will be all blue and white by tomorrow is impossible and Joe Smith recently came from MTA Bus promoted to Senior Vice President of Buses at the DOB so why would he be going back to replace Neil Yellin it is just not going to happen unless someone on this board is a high level OFFICAL at the MTA and know something that we dont and if it does i stand corrected |

Hybrid buses burning clean diesel fuel (not gasoline -- none of NYCT's buses use gasoline) rival the clean-fuel specifications of CNG buses, even doing better than CNG buses in some categories of emissions, without the infrastructure cost involved in converting a depot for CNG and maintaining the CNG equipment in the depot.Where is the evidence that hybrids burn only 5% less fuel (presumably than standard diesel buses)? As to sound effects, I know of no transit agency that will pick one bus model over another because of the way it sounds. David |

Where is the evidence that hybrids burn only 5% less fuel (presumably than standard diesel buses)?According to the EESI Fact Sheet Hybrid Buses Costs and Benefits, Orion VII hybrids offer, on average, 37% better fuel economy than Orion V diesels and 88% better fuel economy than an Orion VII CNG. In fact, the only benefit of the CNG buses is NOx emissions. CO and THC emissions for a CNG bus are more than an order of magnitude higher than on a clean diesel. |

Well, wait until that happens before we start talking about LIB buses saying MTA Bus... My two cents and a stethoscope... --Dr. C |
