Where is the evidence that hybrids burn only 5% less fuel (presumably than standard diesel buses)?According to the EESI Fact Sheet Hybrid Buses Costs and Benefits, Orion VII hybrids offer, on average, 37% better fuel economy than Orion V diesels and 88% better fuel economy than an Orion VII CNG. In fact, the only benefit of the CNG buses is NOx emissions. CO and THC emissions for a CNG bus are more than an order of magnitude higher than on a clean diesel. |
