From what I was told when it was up here with Veolia, it would stay for a while in New York. I can't recall exactly how long, but might be able to find out. Am I the only one who thinks that the ugly toy-like Euro-trash bus would be a horrible idea in the US. I like the rugged, useful, functional designs of US busses. We don't need to get more transit equipment from Europe. We need to start new American companies with US designs of busses and trains, not more European stuff. Just as long as it is not GM or Ford. |

American companies are adapting to European designs. Look at Orion 7NG, Gillig BRT, New Flyer x30/35/40LFR, Nova LFS, NABI BRT/Compobus, Optima Opus, etc. The Optima Opus is based off of a British design, and the Orion 7 NG looks like a bus in Germany with the frameless windows. |

I'm kinda in agreement with you, at least in the bus spectrum, maybe not so much in the rail spectrum...In the bus industry, there's just not very much quality and design thought, just utiliarianism and functionality, as you mentioned, but they're not eye-catching like they used to be...so it seems the US is looking to European designs as a way to show the Europeans that even though we are supposedly years behind them in bus designs/applications/liveries, we can and will catch up to you...oh, heck with it, we'll even bring some of your buses over here since we're kinda lazy...and it costs too much to,...yada yada yada...whatever...Meh, just my two cents... --Dr. C |
