Extracurricular plastic? The one downside is they're sealed windows, but the climate control system usually balances that out (though when it's in the 50's, like today, it sucks to not be able to crack open a window). |

These are the first buses with the new scheme, the incoming sextet of hybrids will have it too and a variant will be on the 8 29' buses going up for the relaunched Saratoga services. This scheme will also appear on the LFS's when they go in for a midlife rehab starting later this year, no word on the rest of the fleet. It's been in planning for quite some time, I saw pictures as early as May of last year with it and the somewhat similar "NX" scheme(s) on their MCI coaches was a test of sorts for this. If anything it's eye-catching, I know people who HATE buses who want to ride in part because of the scheme being so, well, different. |

It's nice to see something new,by growing up on Orions and now the LFS's and NABI's it's kinda werid for me to see this big change. Also the ones going to Saratoga i assume they will be based out of Troy Division like they always. But the new Saratoga icon thats on the CDTA website will that be on the buses to just like the NX has their own? Also i noticed on Wednesday a CDTA NX 324 was parked in my high school parking lot for some reason signed as "SPECIAL". Another thing are these buses staying in Albany while the others ones go to Troy(Saratoga)and Schenctady(Express/BRT)?? |

The annual report answers a couple of these questions1: There are plans to build a garage in Saratoga Springs which would move the Saratoga routes fully up there. 2: Yes, the Saratoga scheme will be a modified version of the iRide scheme. 3: I saw 4002 doing the 55X this afternoon. Original plans or no, I have a feeling a couple diesels will go up to Schenectady with a couple of hybrids ending up in Albany so they can be paraded system wide. |

Also Troy Garage holds 70 vehicles but only operates 63 buses. So if they build that garage your getting rid of about 9 buses but whats going to happen then the 86,and 96 AM bus won't be able to use mini's. Even thou that the new depot would be really small it saves the buses on milage between Troy, Another thing is i doubt they will put ad's on the outter buses so what is lang media going to do lol go down in business a little bit? |

The press release on the coming launch hints that one of the new routes will connect Saratoga to Schenectady (which isn't that far, only via local roads instead of 87/alternate 7).What actually happens remains to be seen. Something serving the gaping hole known as Clifton Park and a route heading down to the Airport (and possibly from there to Wolf Road/Crossgates) would be good given it'd give a connection to the core of the market aside from the NX and would help tourism. |

As I understand it from friends who work there, senior operators that is, the first phase will be taking all the Saratoga Service buses out of Troy Division and transfering them to Schenectady to reduce deadhead miles. The second phase will be launching the new T29's in an entirerly new system with expanded routes, service running until 11pm, and new all day service on sundays. This is going to be a major expansion and the new bus garage is suppose to be located near the new CDTA Train Station in Saratoga. |

Because it's a 3-hour hike for much of the readership out here:) That and most of the instigated postings come from one person. As for pictures freezing up, nearly 3 years of little change can do that (the 400 series cutaways and the NX D4500's notwithstanding). I have a CDTA backlog dating back to February waiting to be put online plus some stuff from last year but it gets old--outside the two scheme variants, the few remaining wraps, and the two LED signed LFS's, it gets old to shoot after a while. And to answer QM18's comment on PART and LOOP and such, PART has nothing to photograph while LOOP is stale (no new buses in the last 3 years, no plans for new ones for a few more). Personally, I'd recommend the readership to trek up to Poughkeepsie to see how bad that system is before the low-floor hybrids come in near the new year, I lived it and hated it and it took Moreira one ride to agree. If you can't go down to Prince George's County, Poughkeepsie is a good substitute. In all honesty, I'd love to see more love for some of the systems to the west. There's a dearth of BC Transit and RGRTA pics out there, Canadians cover the NFTA and Railbus covers CENTRO-land. |
