Do you have a website? I noticed that when I had my cursor over your picture, it said "photobucket". Are there more of these awesome pictures? I do remember the Q49. Was that at the Jamaica Depot? |

Nah, I just very recently started posting some of my photos on that Photobucket site. That was the only way I could post them here. I will post more here as I get the time.Yes, the Q-49 shot was taken inside the Jamaica Depot while on a fantrip years ago. IIRC, that route was split between Jamaica and East New York. The Q-49 was the "shuttle" bus that took over after the J train was cut back from 168th Street to Queens Blvd in the late 70's. It was eliminated after the Archer Avenue subway opened in the late 80's. |

He asked how old the bus was at the time, not how long ago I took the picture. I believe the bus was built in 1965, and the picture was taken around 1982. |

Nice shots... not many "bus fans" take Rear End shots like seen on the 1966 Flx- 5700..most likely came over from Queens (Flushing) I am suprised she got painted the blue and white livery colors most of them didn't and went to Staten Island to die. 4068 was originally assigned to 5th ave depot--- again in their "twilight" years.Brings back memeories--Thanks for sharing..Happy Holidays to all. |

I rode the AMGs that SCRTD had from the time they were brand new in early 1978 until about the mid-80s, when they were starting to be phased out. Hated them. There was this 3-4 second delay for the rear door interlock to clear, I can remember at least one occasion when the bus missed the light due to this. They do have the distinction of being the first handicap-accessible buses in L. A., though the lifts seldom, if ever worked. (The same was true of the 1980 Grummans, so the first real accessible buses were the 1981 RTS-04s. |

Yep, I was living in Southern California (see my other post in this thread) and was used to the AMGs that SCRTD and Santa Monica had, so I was surprised to see some during a visit to NYC in August of 1978. It was an AMG kind of summer, as I had been in Miami right before visiting NY and the then-MTA there also had some. |

Only a handfull of those old 5000 series Flxibles were painted white. I remember QV had a couple. But yes, most stayed in the all blue paint scheme. That could be the only existing picture of one with in the white paint scheme.BIG AL |
