That particular festival was was absolutely amazing.

They also do not bring out as many buses as they used to.

I’m delighted to tell you Edwards that on Saturday, June 10th 2023, we staged what can only described as a truly remarkable return of the New York Transit Museum’s Bus Festival. On a picture perfect day, against the backdrop of the Brooklyn Bridge, we welcomed an estimated 5,000+ people who came together to celebrate New York’s transit history.

The NYTM team interacted with thousands of people, big and small, neurotypical and nerodivergent, families old and young, tourists and travelers and so very many scavenger hunt participants. And for the first time, colleagues from the MTA joined us, talking to visitors about the Brooklyn Bus Redesign project, Fair Fares, and the “open stroller” pilot. We sold 27 museum memberships and our Retail team did $21,000 in sales! This event was a great collaboration and labor of love for the Museum team and the Buses team.

So we reminisce about the days of old when we had real buses and better bus service while being told how bus service will be made "better" by taking away bus stops, cutting service and putting junk on the road.

Can't disagree here . But again running a Museum cost real money $$. Regarding your other statement I personally am not happy with the redesign /cut in service and the junk buses put on the road nowadays but all comes down to $$$. Gov Hocul promises she will find the cash to fund the MTA. You think?

Fantastic!

I hope this year is fun and memorable as well.
I did not attend last year's event, since I wasn't in the City at the time..but I will attend this year's event.

I've been going, off and on, over the years since the Transit Exhibit opened in 1976.
R46s were brand new.. the place was exciting..we were given a tour by the staff, even given a play by play detailed description of the New Routes Program... particularly the 63rd st Tunnel, and Queens Bypass.
He Was pretty excited about the lines for some reason..

Thanks for the recap, and I hope to see The MTA participation This year.

Im just hoping she follows through with the IBX.
So far, I've seen little construction, but I have seen plenty of folks "surveying" the right of way, especially where the station are supposed to be.

Sutter Ave comes to mind...lots of teams were over there recently.

The 'Bicentennial' R46s were on display at the Museum for a while. The 'New Routes' program wasn't cancelled by the time the museum opened in 1976?

It was still ongoing, but the reason for the entire program was cancelled the year before...all that was left at the time was the 73rd St line, Tunnels, Bypass and the South Jamaica line.
Construction continued on SAS to finish the projects already begun, which was the 110th to 120th st section.
