Operators were given the option of smooth or stainless-fluted. Academy opted for smooth - all their 17000s were delivered that way. NJT is staying with stainless on their coaches for maintenance reasons - less paint and easier to clean. I would have preferred fully-painted for NJT because I thought the DesignLines looked much better that way. |

Hard to say, the D series is still around in its conventional form, does it take much to continue a commuter version? Georgia signed a statewide contract for commuter coaches both regular and CRT. There are 3 more years left on the NJT deal, so they aren't going away too soon. Would certainly expect to see some evolution in materials and powertrain options, they have promised all electric for 2020. |

MCI will be making versions of the new D45 CRT LE in 40- and 45-foot form without the low-entry vestibule (conventional side-body wheelchair lift as the current coaches have). The D40/D45 CRT are expected to be direct replacements for the D4000/D4500 Commuter - MCI wants to finally end the current D-series, although the inmate version of the D4000 may remain if demand requires. |

Thank you.Two questions: (1) The only Red & Tan route in and out of GWBBS is now the #9A correct? If so, a big drop from the old pre-GWBBS days when Red and Tan had its own terminal at 166th Street and Broadway. (2) Is Saddle River tours also a Coach USA affiliate or is it an independent? Looks like it took over former Red & Tan routes 11C and 84, correct? |

Thanks!Additionally, the layout at GWB bus station makes the space look bigger. Before, I remember it looking a bit cluttered, as the bays were in a similar style to those at Port Authority. |

Thanks, and you're welcome. To answer your first question, the 9A (and its variant, the 9AT) are indeed the only routes out of GWB. Saddle River Tours is a separate company, not affiliated with Coach USA. It runs the 11C and 84, which were proposed to be discontinued by Rockland Coaches if nobody picked them up over four years ago. The service levels compared to Rockland Coaches is a lot less though. |

Thank you for these pix and the discussion. Many years ago I was a regular commuter using the GWBr Bus Stn. It is incredible how much the traffic has declined there. I remember the R&T 14 and 84 routes which were very busy way back. Route 84 was originally a Public Service route, but R&T took it over around 1960. Route 84 once had half-hourly service, but it went into a slow decline esp under Coach USA. Route 14 was also half-hourly across the GW Bridge, but it is now only limited service to the PABT. Happy New Year to everyone. |
