They were on Greenwich between Liberty and Cortlandt. They moved to Park Row, when the WTC was being built in the mid 1960's. |

This picture was taken after the explosion that demolished a narrow building near the end of the block, two buildings after Hizzoners. You can see a small space between the buildings. It happened in 1974 or early 1975. |

"This picture was taken after the explosion that demolished a narrow building near the end of the block, two buildings after Hizzoners. You can see a small space between the buildings. I remember that day because I was working on Church Street at the time, heard the blast and saw the smoke rising and had walked on Park Row earlier that day. |

I went and graduated from Pace College which is a block away or Park Row. I think the blast was on a Friday and I had left the school at 11 AMI remember going to the school for an Accounting Society meeting the next day (Saturday). I walked to the site and couldn't believe my eyes. I remember seeing one of NY's Bravest gingerly putting a ladder against what remained of the north wall to mount a floodlight so the operation could proceed into the night. Another Fireman was "spotting" for him (like in gymnastic). The first guy must have felt something shift and he jumped off that ladder and moved away. Fortunately nothing happened. I think the street level contained a bar. One of the survivors told a reporter that he had his foot up on the bar rail and the next thing he knew he was holding onto the rail so as not to fall into the pit. |

I'm also a Pace Graduate and remember the blast very well. I used to buy a lot of records at J&R .... 45's and LP's to play on the Pace University radio station. That is how the "Mr. Night Train Show" moniker was created. I got the music & train idea into one name for this sight. Regardless, The pix brings back a lot of great memories...just 40 years old. My playlist had "Long Train Following Me, Peace Train, Love Train, and Double Dutch Bus". |

During my tenure at 41 Park Row, there was a record shop next to the building. I think it was called Bondy's. Wouldn't shock me to know that J&R put him and his high priced inventory out of business. |
